Again, beautiful colors juxtaposed against an almost dilapidated environment. The weather worn tin roofs with their rust patches captivated me with their character.

Though nothing can capture the awe of peering down into the grand canyon in person, I did enjoy trying.

White Face

Another interesting geological feature of Simi Valley is called "White Face," a promintory that can be seen from most points in within the city as it sets back in the hills and is noticably taller than the surrounding hills. Like with any good kid's imagination, I always thought the little oak tress at the top were actually dinosaurs that were, well ... grazing.

I had the fortunate experience of visiting the Domincan Republic and really enjoyed the combination of vibrant colors and ruged environment that surrounded me at all times. An unforgettable trip, and one I brought home with me by making these watercolors. Gouache on Watercolor Paper.

The Knolls

Where I grew up, tucked in between the typical suburban shopping malls and track housing, there are some really great landscapes to capture in the surrounding hills. The red rock and the dry desert plants were my subjects in this piece as it was nearing sunset.

Rocky Peak

The freeway passes just underneath this imposing rock face that separates Simi from "the Valley." I'm sure the way the rocks jut out at such a strong angle must fascinate geologists.
